What is Indian Valerian?
Indian Valerian is not a new name to the traditional practitioners and users of herbal medicine. An Indian perennial, herbaceous plant, Valerian root is used in many ancient medicines to promote restful sleep and to reduce pain. Chronic insomnia, irrespective of the cause, is most effectively treated with this simple looking plant without any bothersome side effects. The natural compounds occurring in Valerian roots have sedative properties and promotes sleep in people with sleep disturbance. Moreover, it does not have any side effects commonly associated with the narcotic drugs.
This herb anti spasmodic, stimulant, stomachic, carminative, diuretic, relaxant, sedative, warming and powerfully nervine. It is effective in neuralgic pains, to ease menstrual cramps, to relieve of IBS symptoms and migraine trouble. In a nervous and anxious person, the herb lowers blood pressure, palpitations of the heart and also helps to strengthens the heart. Recommended Dosage of Indian Valerian
The recommended dosage of administration of Indian Valerian in powdered form is two to ten grams. While it may interact with other medicines or herbs, excessive dosage can be harmful. Valerian is an apt herb for stress related worries which commonly affect our world today.

Very informative post. Well done. I have done some looking into Valerian root myself and found its benefits to be tremendous. Although I have never personally used it (I’m a big fan of chamomile tea and daily meditation to combat sleeping problems) it appears to be a great way to combat sleep deprivation and insomnia.
